Slipknot’s latest album, All Hope Is Gone, shows the nine-men strong band in a form so violent that the cornfields in the home state of Iowa must have been left scorched after the recording sessions. The inspiration, the passion of playing and the all-devouring anger are thriving like never before behind the grotesque Halloween masks.

Slipknot’s starting point is 90s nu-metal, but today the band primarily plays versatile thrash with smoking riffs and galloping double pedals. The melodies, however, have not been turned away from Slipknot’s dark universe. A power ballad such as ”Snuff” proves why the band is likely to end up as Metallica’s successors.

All music lovers should experience Slipknot as they let loose their hellhounds.
